There have been many sad and disappointed couples around the UK over the last few months, forced to watch their dreams of getting married in 2020 go up in smoke thanks to the global pandemic.
But, with restrictions gradually being eased all over the country, people are now allowed to hold small wedding ceremonies with up to 30 people - so let the bells ring!
However, plans for some types of honeymoon may well have to be abandoned for the time being and, in fact, research from Expedia shows that one in ten cancelled trips this year were honeymoons.
The travel agency has come up with a few helpful suggestions for happy couples looking to have a staycation honeymoon over the next few months, providing some alternatives to overseas trips.
Instead of California’s Highway One, for example, you could follow the Causeway coastal route in Northern Ireland, which starts in Belfast and makes its way through some charming little villages, through the Glens of Antrim and the Causeway Coast, before coming to an end in Derry-Londonderry.
Or you could forgo Portofino in Italy in favour of Fowey in Cornwall, a beautifully quaint littleport with colourful houses perched on the coastal hills. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, you’ll certainly find it here.
Never forget that we have some stunning places right here in Great Britain and you are sure to find local destinations that would be perfect for a honeymoon. All you need to do is a little bit of research and we bet you end up with a very extensive shortlist of places indeed!
